Are my payments secure?

The page used to collect personal details such as your name and address is protected by a digital certificate called a Secure Socket Layer (SSL). The secure-server software encrypts all sensitive information using industry standard technology. Click on the padlock icon in the bottom right hand corner of your browser to view certificate details.

Details collected will only be used for the purposes of order fulfilment, and will not be passed on or sold to, any other parties.

What can I pay for online?

Scottish Environment Protection Agency currently accepts online payments for:

  • Debtor Invoices
  • Consignment Notes
  • Waste Carrier Licences
  • Email applications (for selected activities within the CAR, PPC, RSA and WM regimes)

In the near future we also hope to extend the facility to include other licences.

In all debtor payments you will need your account details or invoice numbers and a credit or debit card to make a payment online. The account number will be on the invoice you have received from SEPA. Take care to enter all details correctly or your payment may be rejected or made to the wrong account. For all other payment types you will simply need your credit or debit card to make a payment online.

Why do I get "page cannot be displayed" when I proceed to pay?

This is caused by the Internet Explorer browser options, and can be resolved by adjusting your security settings.

To do this click on Tools --> Internet Options

Switch to the "Advanced" tab and scroll down to "security".

To allow our security measures to work, you will need to tick the boxes associated with "Use SSL3.0" or "Use TLS1".
